Hi, I am Jody Kartika


I am a self-taught photographer based out of Southern Minnesota. I've lived in Minnesota for the past 13 years now, but I was born and raised in Bali, Indonesia. I was lucky enough to have had the best of both worlds growing up, living in Bali and visiting Minnesota twice a year for summer and Christmas breaks. My parents loved traveling and fortunately for me, being the only child meant I got to go with them everywhere. It was a privilege I never took for granted and helped shaped me into who I am today.


For me, these past couple of years have been full of big changes and life lessons. Between grieving the loss of my dad who passed away in 2023, and bringing a new life into this world in 2024, I am a completely different person than who I was before. My perspective and priorities in life have now shifted. The concept of time truly becomes so much more valuable once you’ve experienced loss and/or you’re watching your own child grow.


Because of this, I’ve gone from being a career-focused woman, climbing the ladder of corporate America, to a full-time stay at home mom. I’ve always been searching for that work-life balance and have wanted to own my own business and time. This photography business feels so right in my soul. I’ve always loved capturing and documenting special moments with my loved ones. And I’ve also taken pictures as a creative outlet in the past - usually with me in front of the lens. But now, I’m embracing the role behind the camera, helping capture all the laughter, love, and memories for others.


So why photography? I'm glad you asked! Because while we’re all in the thick of life, hustling and bustling just to make it through, we don’t think about how important pictures are or can be! It’s not until you lose someone and the world comes to a complete stop that you’ll start looking for those pictures. You’ll want any little bit of memory you can keep and hold on to. And usually, it’s not until it’s too late that we realize we don’t have enough pictures/videos with our loved ones.



So here’s your reminder to cherish the moments you have with your family, friends, pets, and loved ones - because time goes by so quickly. And when you’re ready to capture this precious moment in time, I hope you think of me! I would love to be a part of it!

  • I'm a Virgo (if that tells you anything about how much effort I will put into perfecting your pictures)
  • I have 2 cats - Kingston Noel and Princess Peach
  • I have a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Master's degree in Accounting
  • I married my husband, Jose, in 2023 in the mountains in Colorado
  • My baby boy is the light of my life, his name is Royce
  • I speak Indonesian fluently and took 2 years of French in college
  • I am currently learning Spanish. I'm nowhere near fluent, but if you need a translator - I can always bring my husband to the photoshoot.
  • I'm obsessed with coffee - from straight black to basic sweet iced coffees, I don't discriminate!
